New York-- The Gladney Center for Adoption is excited to announce The 2009 Gladney Cup, a premier golf event that combines the love of golf with the desire to promote adoption. Foursomes from around the world will gather in October for a chance to play at two of the greatest U.S. Open courses in the United States as well as to financially support the non-profit Gladney Center for Adoption. This year’s Gladney Cup contestants will compete on Bethpage State Park’s Black Course, Farmingdale, NY, home of the 2009 U.S. Open, on October 2, 2009.  On October 5, 2009 The Gladney Cup plays the East and West courses at Winged Foot Golf Club, Mamaroneck, NY.  

Frank Garrott, President of the Gladney Center says, “The Gladney Cup embodies the mission of the Gladney Center by combining history and tradition with a passion for family. This world-class golf event raises awareness of the needs of children, birthmothers and adoptive families. Because of The Gladney Cup we can help those who need our help the most”.   

Throughout The Gladney Cup weekend contestants and their spouses will be entertained in Manhattan and the surrounding areas. Events include a cocktail party at Tourneau Time Machine on Saturday, a Gala event on Sunday and closing ceremonies Monday night. All You Need is Love is the theme for the Gala event featuring Master of Ceremonies Hugh Jackman with performances by Broadway star, Kerry Butler and country music sensation Pat Green.  (Ticket information) This event supports Gladney’s rapidly expanding humanitarian aid efforts which focus on programs that improve the lives of children in foster care and orphanages, especially those who will likely not be adopted.
