Texas Music Chart “Decade Award” to Pat Green for the most airplay in Texas
Pat Green is the most-played artist at Texas radio during the past 10 years.
Now he has the award to prove it.
The Texas Music Chart "Decade Award" was presented Sunday night to Pat Green on a
statewide TV broadcast during Houston's Freedom Festival.
During the first ten years of the Texas Music Chart’s compilation of airplay at Texas radio, Pat Green received 269,783 spins or plays.
The handsome limestone obelisk was presented to Pat by Ed Shane, publisher of the Texas Music Chart, backstage at the Festival.
On camera, Pat credited the Chart for its part in developing and nurturing the music scene in Texas.
Off camera, he told Ed that, based on Texas Music Chart spin numbers, someone calculated that a Pat Green song was on the radio in Texas once every seven minutes during the last 10 years.
The “Decade Award” to Green is one of five awards presented during the year-long 10th Anniversary celebration of the Texas Music Chart and its sibling publication, Best In Texas® Music Magazine.
Earlier this year, Jack Ingram received an award for the most number one songs; Cross Canadian Ragweed received two awards, one for the most Top 5 songs, another for the highest Chart debut; and John and Robin Dickson, producers of MusicFest and other Texas/Red Dirt music events received the “Best In Texas” award for their work behind the scenes.
The weekly Texas Music Chart is the industry standard for measurement of airplay at Texas radio.
